Girl Concepts by samliu Girl Concepts by samliu
Old concept work done in the late 90s for an online clothing store that is no longer existing. The concept, if I remember correctly, was they wanted a mascot avatar that would interact with it's customers as they navigated through the website.

They wanted a cute hip girl and sadly I know absolutely nothing about hipster fashion.

THe one on the far right works for me. Also, the head with the afro puffs.

Super awesome and sexy - I love the variety of poses and silhouettes you have going on through here. My favorite being second from the left - she just has a nice vibe coming from her (i see her in nice shades of purple and brown with ice blue accents)
but my favorite thing of it all. is that their clothes look super comfy - so much so I'd be begging to ask them where they go shopping

Hipster? Needs thick glasses. And a stripey scarf. And a shirt for a fictional band. And other anti-mainstream stuff like pennyloafer shoes, an asymmetrical skirt, hemp bracelets...

... Yeah, those gals aren't hipsters... But they are very well drawn. They all have a strong sense of movement and their sassy attitudes are plain to see in their posture. I like their hairstyles and the way you draw faces.

I probably used the wrong word. They ranged from street fashion to hip popular girls fashion. This was all in the late 90s so what the term meant was probably different back then than it is currently. Then again I am not up on fashion at all.

hipster fashion as far as I can tell is taking ratty clothes that look semi-vintage and act like you've owned them forever and you didn't just put them on because everybody else is doing it.

I was about to say that these designs look way too edgey for something mainstream or hipster. That said these designs are great and I would totally buy anything she was selling :).

Haha thanks man! I was trying to vibe an artist named Michiko Stehrenberger's work who did some adds for Steve Madden shoes back in the day. I'll take edgey!
