Amazing work, Sam! Very fluid and dynamic...that's how Spidey is supposed to move! Congrats!

This would be a great look for an animated Spidey series!

Now I wish they had you on a Spider-Man animated series. That'd be awesome in my opinion.

Haha thanks. Spiderman is always fun cause it gives you an excuse to draw dynamic poses.

The lean muscle look really works well with Spider-Man. Great stuff.

These Spidey sketches are great! Love the crazy scrawny/ muscular anatomy you gave him.

Thanks Bryan. It's kind of weird but refreshing looking at old stuff, especially the decision making process from back then.

What type of sketchbook/size of paper are you using? I can never get enough elbow room in my seat. lol

I use the small 5.5 x 8.5 side bound (spiral on the long length side) ones which is too small for me. I always run out of paper space. I bought 8.5 x 11 top bound (spiral on the short length) one that I hope works better for me. You must use a huge pad if you're running out of elbow room haha.

Thank you for the info. Ever since art school (oh a decade or so ago) I started using my shoulder and elbow more than my wrist (no dirty comment please lol). If only I could take a huge pad on the plane but I would have to ask the passenger next to me to hold it for me while I draw. LOL

I love Peter's work! Posting up old work reminds me of little things I use to do back then and in my case would like to go back to. I think working in animation caused me to evolve in a different direction.

I remember seeing this on your old website. the note attached to it about how you couldn't remember Spidey's costume details always tripped me out. I wish more artists drew him like this.

I sketched this on the plane ride with no reference for his costume so I was unsure where the seams were and how the webs worked. I added the web design on his face before I posted this time :p I should probably go back and finish out the rest of his body as well...

Stupid question but, you just sketched this with a pencil and just scanned it in?
No changes where made?

No I tweak the drawings after I scan them in. I move stuff around for composition and in this case I wasn't sure how the web design worked while I was on the plane so I added that just recently. I should probably put the webbing on the rest of his body and the spider emblem on his back...
